Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Debuts 3 New Clips

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story looms ever closer, and the studio has released three new clips from the much-anticipated film.

The first is titled "Call Sign" and chronicles when Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), and K-2SO (Alan Tudyk) are attempting to fly off in their confiscated ship. The officer on the com asks for their call sign, and Bodhi struggles to come up with something off the top of his head, ultimately going with Rogue One. It doesn't work mind you, but it is quite catchy.

The second clip is titled "Chance of Failure", which is fitting since K-2SO keeps mentioning just how little their chance of survival is during a rocky approach.

The third clip is called "Jyn Is Rescued", and while it does, in fact, feature a rescue operation, let's just say the Stormtroopers are the least of her rescuer's problems.

You can view all three clips above.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, it's the first of the new standalone features from Lucasfilm and Disney, which take place outside the core "Skywalker Saga" of films noted by an Episode number. Rogue One tells the story of the small band of rebels that were tasked with stealing the plans to the first Death Star. The story spins directly off the opening crawl from the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. In that crawl, it read: "Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet."
