Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Passes $500 Million At Global Box Office

If there was any doubt that the standalone Star Wars movies would perform well enough to justify their existence alongside the Skywalker Saga movies, then that worry should be all but gone right about now. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hit another major milestone at the box office over the holiday weekend.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has officially crossed $500 million at the global box office. With $286.4 million of that total comes from domestic ticket sales, and $237.4 million coming from foreign markets, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's global total now stands at $538.8 million worldwide.

Dominating the Christmas weekend box office is quickly becoming a Star Wars tradition. Star Wars: The Force Awakens was still setting records at this time last year, and Star Wars: Episode VIII will be playing in theaters by the time Christmas rolls around in 2017.
