Ron Howard Teases Speeder Cars In New Han Solo Set Photo

Last week, Ron Howard gave fans a glimpse of Alden Ehrenreich in Han Solo, albeit one that obscured much of his face. This weekend, Howard might have revealed the actor's forearms and Han's iconic gloves in a behind-the-scenes photo.

The steering controls of the vehicle aren't instantly recognizable, but the hands on the controls are wearing the same gloves Harrison Ford wore in multiple sequences in the original Star Wars. What type of speeder this could be or whether these are actually Ehrenreich's hands are up for debate, but we'll take any glimpse of the star that we can get.

Since taking over directorial duties back in June, Howard has continuously teased and taunted fans of the franchise with vague and perplexing glimpses of sets and stars. From unfocused shots of silhouettes that vaguely resemble Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian to familiar locations with cryptic comments, Howard has masterfully avoided revealing any key information about the project.

Last week, fans suffered some concerning news with the surprise announcement that Colin Trevorrow has parted ways from Episode IX. Initial reports and official announcements cited an amicable split regarding "script issues," but days later, details began to emerge about Trevorrow's personal attitude being a point of contention.

"During the making of Jurassic World, he focused a great deal of his creative energies on asserting his opinion," a source explained to Vulture. "But because he had been personally hired by Spielberg, nobody could say, 'You're fired.' Once that film went through the roof and he chose to do [The Book of] Henry, [Trevorrow] was unbearable. He had an egotistical point of view - and he was always asserting that."

Reportedly, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is the ultimate word on filmmakers, with Trevorrow's behavior not sitting well with the exec. Book of Henry, his first film after Jurassic World, was both a critical and financial failure, despite the director's previous successes.

"When the reviews for Book of Henry came out, there was immediately conjecture that Kathy was going to dump him because they weren't thrilled with working with him anyway," the insider continued. "He's really, really, really confident. Let's call it that."

With reports of original Han Solo spinoff directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller's directing styles not meshing well with Lucasfilm, leading to their departure from the project, Trevorrow's exit seems to corroborate that conjecture.

The untitled Han Solo film will hit theaters May 25, 2018.
