'Thor: Ragnarok' Director Jokes About 'Star Wars' Director Split

Star Wars: Episode IX is in need of a new director, but Thor: RagnarokTaika Waititi isn't interested.

Waititi made his stance known in somewhat flippant fashion on Twitter after someone else brought the fact that Star Wars: Episode IX needs a new director to Waititi's attention.

"Lolz. I like to complete my films," Waititi responded, taking a pointed jab at Lucasfilm for losing not only Colin Trevorrow on Episode IX, but Phil Lord and Chris Miller on the Han Solo spinoff and Josh Trank on another, untitled Star Wars Story project.

Waititi made a more a more self-effacing second tweet on the matter, tweeting "I'd be fired within a week."

It is interesting that Waititi is speaking so openly about the director shuffles going on with the Star Wars projects since Lucasfilm is owned by Disney, the same company that owns Marvel Studios, for whom Waititi is currently finishing up Thor: Ragnarok.

This isn't the first time that such a thing has occurred. After Edgar Wright officially left Ant-Man, Joss Whedon, who was working on Avengers: Age of Ultron at the time, tweeted a photo of himself holding a Cornetto as a show of solidarity.

Colin Trevorrow is rumored to have parted ways with Lucasfilm after his script for Star Wars: Episode IX was rejected by the studio in favor of a rewrite.
