Leia Lends A Hand In An Ewok Escape In New 'Forces Of Destiny' Episode

One of the lingering questions fans have had about Return of the Jedi over the last 30 years is what sort of adventures Leia got up to after meeting Wicket the Ewok on the Forest Moon of Endor, and thanks to Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, we finally have an answer. You can check out the brand-new episode of the series above.

In addition to the new episode of the series showing how Leia got to the Ewok community, it also showed how she ditched her military gear and where she got the dress she changed into later in the film.

Star Wars: Forces of Destiny aims to introduce younger audiences who might not be able to watch the latest film or newest animated series to the world of Star Wars. Additionally, the series will tell tales of everyday heroism demonstrated by a variety of characters from different eras of the epic saga.

Making Forces of Destiny all the more exciting is that it features Daisy Ridley, Felicity Jones, and Ashley Eckstein portraying their characters of Rey, Jyn Erso, and Ahsoka Tano. For the latest installment, Shelby Jones provided the voice of Leia.

When speaking with ComicBook.com, writer Jennifer Muro revealed what makes the series so exciting.

"It's the unseen moments from time and space for all the beloved characters. The original trilogy through Clone Wars and Rebels and The Force Awakens," she explained. "It's super exciting to see a lot of these characters come together in ways we hadn't seen before."

The opportunity to write a story about Leia was especially exciting for Muro, who confessed, "Leia was great, Leia was fantastic. To get to write for her in the original trilogy was a dream come true."

Even better, Muro got to write for the character in a timeline that's near and dear to her heart.

"I'm a huge original trilogy person. Jedi's my favorite," the writer admitted of her favorite film. "Most people say Empire but I just love Jedi so much, mostly because of Luke's journey up to that point. I think the change in that is just amazing."

The two-to-three minute shorts will be airing on Disney's YouTube channel, with a planned two-part event airing on TV July 9. Although there aren't currently any plans to expand the series into a longer format, considering the popularity of Star Wars animated series, anything is possible.
