In anticipation of the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story this December, we're getting more and more looks at the film, via tie-in merchandise and official promotional materials put out by Lucasfilm. Since Star Wars is a worldwide phenomenon, marketing a new Star Wars movie is a worldwide campaign, and one piece of promotional material for the overseas markets is standings out from the bunch.
Check out this Russian poster for Rogue One:
Last weekend was Rogue One Friday, and we got a look at some cool new items and merchandise from the movie - including new imagery of the various characters in the film, courtesy of the tie-in trading card set from Topps. You can check those out in the gallery above, with a list of the characters featured in the images, below.
- A lot of the cards feature Jyn Orso (Felicity Jones) the main character, a girl who is to much of a rebel for even The Rebellion's liking. But since her father Galen (Mad Mikkelsen) is the one who designed the Death Star's super weapon, Jyn is a perfect agent to send to retrieve him from imperial clutches.
- Along with Jyn in the images we often see Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) who is the "Han Solo type" of the story, along with his "Chewbacca type" sidekick, former imperial droid K-2SO (Alan Tudyk).
- There are also some new alien characters we'll see. One card depicts K-2SO standing with two of those alien characters: Rebel Commando Pao (front right), and a character so far only referred to as "Space Monkey" by the filmmakers (front left).
- A group photo card combines the main trio (Jyn, Cassian, K-2SO) with the alien characters (Pao, 'Space Monkey'), and the supporting humanoid characters, Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker playing the Clone Wars character); Martial Artist/force user Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen); shell-shocked Baze Malbus (Wen Jiang); and communications officer Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed).
- On the villain side, we of course see Darth Vader, and familiar sites like Storm Trooper and an AT-ST walker, but also the new foes like the black-suited Death Troopers, and the big bad, nefarious Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn).
- There's also all that good Star Wars memorabilia, like the Death Star, tie fighters and X-Wings.
