UPDATED: Star Wars: The Last Jedi Features [SPOILER] Reunion

Lucasfilm is slowly releasing new information about the latest film in the Star Wars saga. After the first teaser trailer was released last month at Star Wars Celebration, Vanity Fair followed up with a series of revealing features and photos released on the 40th anniversary of the original film.

Accompanied by Annie Liebowitz stunning photographs of the cast on set for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the magazine included some interesting details about director Rian Johnson's installment in the franchise.

Now Lucasfilm Story Group executive Pablo Hidalgo has revealed even more information about the film at this weekend's Comic Con de Chile. Hidalgo spoke during a spotlight panel at the convention where he went over the newly released photos and offered some intriguing details about events and plots in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Spanish Star Wars site PrensaImperial was on hand for the event and documented the panel.

One of the most interesting reveals occurred when Hidalgo brought up the picture of Mark Hamill hugging Carrie Fisher, both actors clad in their Star Wars costumes. Hidalgo revealed that their characters of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa would indeed share a scene together in the new film.

A Skywalker reunion has been heavily speculated. It's surprising that someone from Lucasfilm would even confirm it to be happening before the movie's release, but given the tragic passing of Fisher last year it's likely that the revelation is to encourage fans that the twins would indeed spend time together on screen.

News that Luke and Leia will reunite in the Star Wars Universe will probably intensify the excitement for The Last Jedi, if such a thing is even possible. Knowing it's the last time the two will ever be on screen together is bittersweet, however.

Considering how Johnson handled the scene, don't expect a dry eye in the theater when people finally see it in the movie.

UPDATE: A reddit user posted about attending the same panel said there could have been some communication errors from Hidalgo's translator.

That's weird, I was in that panel and I didn't hear Pablo saying that. He was just talking about the connection Luke and Leia have, but didn't say anything about a reunion. The most important things he said though was about Phasma appearance and few bits of Luke's stay in Ahch-To. His translator had a few mistakes trying to express what Pablo said sometimes, that's maybe the reason of people thinking he confirmed a reunion.

Hidalgo himself responded to questions from Beth Elderkin on Twitter where he clarified his statements.

This is all pretty confusing considering PrensaImperial's original report ends with confrimation from Hidalgo, but it sounds like a miscommunication got out of hand.

Either way, Hidalgo doesn't necessarily deny that such a scene will take place. So while we still have high hopes for such a scene, maybe we shouldn't hold our breath, especially with December still being so far away...
