Star Wars The Last Jedi Filmed Partially In IMAX

Disney set the bar high with Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, both from a storytelling perspective and a visual one. While the studio is being rather vague on the story at this point, they are planning on delivering a similar visual experience.
The studio announced today that Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi (sitting at a stellar 4.49 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings) will contain sequences captured with IMAX high-resolution cameras (via PRNewswire). The footage is part of a new extension between The Walt Disney Company and the IMAX Corporation that extends their previous deal from 2017 to 2019.

In addition to The Last Jedi, the agreement will also encompass films like the upcoming Indiana Jones sequel, Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, Marvel's Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Beauty and the Beast, and Avengers: Infinity War. The two Russo Brother helmed films will actually be shot entirely with IMAX cameras.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017 release. The film follows-up and continues the story of the next generation of the saga as Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren find their place in the galaxy and follow the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo. Daisy Ridley returns to star as Rey, with other returning stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong'o Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern join the cast in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is slated for release on December 15, 2017.
