Mark Hamill Teases Classic Star Wars Comic Spoils 'The Last Jedi'

When it comes to spoilers, some fans prefer to stay in the dark before a movie or show comes out so they can experience the story for the first time as the creators intended. And then there are others who want to find out everything they can as soon as possible.

No matter which camp you fall in, Mark Hamill is warning you to avoid a certain comic book before Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres in theaters.

The Luke Skywalker actor took to Twitter and warned fans not to read a classic Star Wars comic from Marvel until after the movie releases.

Star Wars #49 by Mike Barr, Walt Simonson, Tom Palmer, Christie Scheele, Don Warfield, and Shelly Leferman was originally released in April 1981. It is particularly notable because the featured story shares the same title with the next Star Wars movie, "The Last Jedi."

The issue takes place after the Empire Strikes Back in the old Star Wars continuity, though there were some errors even before the Extended Universe was discarded.

Given the nature of the story and Hamill's own tendency to joke around on social media, it's unlikely that the comic book actually spoils anything from the upcoming movie. Hamill was likely just having fun with the fact that it shares the same name as the film.

The comic deals with a damaged alien named Jedidiah who had the potential to become a Jedi Knight. Jedidiah accompanied his friend, the prince of the planet Velmor and heir to the throne.

Luke and Leia must return Jedidiah and the prince to their home planet before another is coronated, one who sympathizes with the Empire. Jedidiah sacrifices himself to save Luke Skywalker.

Though a lot of plot details have been kept under wraps for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, what we do know about the film's story doesn't sound anything like the plot of this comic. But if it does end up being similar or spoils the movie, don't say Mark Hamill never warned you!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters December 15.
