Woody Harrelson Says The Han Solo Standalone Could Be The Best Star Wars Film Yet

Last month, Lucasfilm began work on a brand-new film that has already piquing interest with fans. Following the success of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the studio is moving warp-speed ahead with another standalone film. Next year, a spin-off film about Han Solo's younger days will hit theaters, and its cast boasts some impressive talent. Alden Ehrenreich has been tapped to play the space smuggler, and Solo's mentor will be brought to life by Woody Harrelson.

Now, the latter star is stressing just how good the untitled Han Solo film will be. In a recent interview with Collider, the actor was asked about his work with directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Here is what Harrelson had to say:

"They're great. You know, any movie's only as good as the director or in this case directors, and so I have a suspicion, because if you look at the whole, all the movies, the backlog of every one of these movies, there's a lot of great stuff, but one might not be not as good with the writing in this or the acting in that or the directing in that," he said.

"This has great actors, great directors, great script, and I really feel like we're gonna make the best one," he finished.

Harrelson is not the only person impressed with where the Han Solo movie is heading. At the Empire Film Awards, the director of Rogue One gushed over the new standalone. Gareth Edwards told press that Lord and Miller were amazing filmmakers.

"It'll be a completely different film to what we did. I think they've got the hardest task, I think, out of all the films that I heard about that one is probably the greatest challenge and they're gonna knock it out of the park, but I wouldn't have had the balls to do that," he said.

Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is filming now under directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller for a May 25, 2018 release. Alden Ehrenreich stars as a young Han Solo and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca in the era before Star Wars: A New Hope, before they met Leia and Luke and embarked on a galaxy-saving adventure. Donald Glover also stars as Lando Calrissian, with Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clarke in as-yet-unrevealed co-starring roles.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits digital HD on March 24. The film will then be released on Blu-ray and DVD April 4. Are you excited to learn more about the origin of the Galaxy's most famous smuggler? Let us know with your vote in the Anticipation Rankings below!
