"All Out War" Will End In 'The Walking Dead' Season 8

The Walking Dead's war on Negan will not be dragged on beyond the show's eighth season on AMC.

The zombie drama may have learned from its mistakes and won't be replicating the drawn-out feud with the Governor which was the central focus of Season Three before being revisited late in Season Four. The "All Out War" story, which has been brewing since the midpoint of Season Six when Daryl, Abraham, and Sasha first encountered the Saviors, will "absolutely" reach a conclusion in The Walking Dead's eighth season, according to showrunner Scott Gimple's interview with EW.

"The war will absolutely be resolved by the end of season eight," Gimple said.

Of course, the "All Out War" story concluding in Season Eight will quickly prompt speculation of when the next intense group of baddies will come along on The Walking Dead. Comic book fans know the Whisperer War is a fierce battle on the horizon for Rick Grimes and company with the group's leader Alpha primed to take out some beloved characters. Whether she and her group will debut in Season Eight is being kept a secret for now.

"I'm going to give you a full 'no comment' on that," Gimple said.

With the war set to conclude, though, it becomes more and more likely comic book fans assuming the Old Man Rick scene from the Season Eight trailer is a tease of the major time jump which followed the war. Whether it will be realized in Season Eight, we'll have to watch and see.
