Andrew Lincoln Reveals Surprising Death Scene From The Walking Dead Premiere Set

The Walking Dead's Season 7 premiere was tough on the cast and crew. The actors were dragged to the darkest of places as they were forced to play the roles of characters watching their family members brutally killed in front of them.

Executive producer of the series and director of the Season 7 premiere Greg Nicotero has described the days on set as, "the hardest two weeks of my life." It was no easy feat for the cast members and Nicotero to achieve such raw emotion for the returning hour of The Walking Dead. "You take these actors and you drag them," Nicotero said. "You illicit the deepest, darkest fears that they've ever had because our actors, they're f---ing in it."

That said, the cast had their revenge according to Rick Grimes according Andrew Lincoln - who Nicotero has praised for his impressive acting work in the episode. Andrew Lincoln spilled the details of his and Jeffrey Dean Morgan's revenge in an exclusive interview with ComicBook.com.

"Me and Jeffrey [Dean Morgan] got to hit Greg Nicotero in the head with Lucille, which was our payback for such a horrible endurance test that he put us through," Lincoln said. "That is on film."

It is, in fact on film. Not only was the sequence shot by the crew's camera set up but also on Nicotero's phone.

"It was amazing," Lincoln said. "I said, 'Don't you ever put me through this again you son of a gun,' and then hit him with the bat."

Filming Nicotero's death scene may have made up for Lincoln being dragged on an emotional roller coaster for the episode, he still hopes to see Rick bring down the bat on Negan's skull.

"Obviously I would have preferred if it was Jeffrey but I'll have to speak to the writers maybe, maybe some way down the road that's going to happen."

Whether or not the clip will ever surface online is unknown. The moment may be one which the cast and crew are choosing to keep to themselves.

Rick Grimes, on the other hand, is left seeking revenge on Negan. The last we saw him was over two weeks ago, completely emasculated, begging Negan to allow his son to keep his hand. It's highly unlikely he will kill the new villain should the AMC series follow Robert Kirkman's comics.
