Are Rick And Michonne Getting Married On The Walking Dead?

With the episode title for Sunday's new hour of The Walking Dead being, "Say Yes," some fans are beginning to speculate whether or not it is in reference to Michonne saying "Yes" to a wedding to her current boyfriend.

Of course, a wedding in the apocalypse would be a bit unexpected, especially under the circumstances Rick and Michonne's Safe-Zone community are currently facing.

That said, Andrew Lincoln admits to ComicBook.com that he believes Rick and Michonne would have a child together given safer circumstances. "Oh, yeah. Without a doubt," Lincoln said of the matter in exclusive interview with ComicBook.com. "I think the whole point is to start again and to restart and it's about the future, and it's obviously the next generation and, as far as we can tell, we're outnumbered undead to human a lot. It is about repopulating the world. I think that they make a terrific couple and I don't think he would hesitate. Also, maybe in a couple of episodes time, there may be a jump ahead in the curve and maybe setting themselves to that job at hand."

As for a marriage itself: don't count on it.

Looking to the source material (Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead comics), Rick does not ever actually wed his girlfriend Andrea. Michonne is very clearly following the path laid out by Andrea in the comics, right down to becoming trained with a rifle, which would indicate that a marriage is not in the cards.

While Rick and Andrea remain extremely close and often lean on one another to find within them the necessary characteristics to preserve their lives and the lives of those around them, they do it without rings on their fingers while remaining very faithfully in love. The Walking Dead TV series appears to be building towards a mirrored relationship between Rick and Michonne.

Furthermore, the most recent issue of The Walking Dead comics might have spelt the end for Andrea after she emerged from a herd of zombies with what appears to be a bite on her neck. While this is much further down the line than the current story being adapted to television, it might be a shade of what to expect from Michonne should the AMC series continue to follow the comics.

While Sunday's new episode will thoroughly explore the relationship between Rick and Michonne, it will do so without an engagement.
