Watch: Talking Dead's Chris Hardwick Jams Out In Tom Cruise's Rock Of Ages

Chris Hardwick is the hardest working man in the geek community.

Best known as the host of AMC's The Walking Dead recap show Talking Dead and Nerdist podcast host, Hardwick has locked in his daily @midnight comedy game show on Comedy Central, hosts Live with Kelly on Monday's in New York City, and will be going year-round on his Sunday night Talking show with AMC. All of this comes in addition to hosting the biggest panels at San Diego Comic Con every year.

However, something you may not know about Hardwick is that the comedian and host was once involved with the original production of Rock of Ages, a title most commonly associated with Tom Cruise.

"I was in the original production of Rock of Ages," Hardwick tells Kelly Ripa on their morning show. "I'm a good karaoke singer but I'm not a good singer singer."

Ripa immediately wanted more details about this connection between Hardwick and one of the world's biggest celebrities. As all the best stories do, it started at San Diego Comic Con. "The reason that I covered the song was because I was at Comic Con a couple of years ago," Hardwick said. "I'm moderating a panel and Tom Cruise is on the panel." It was at that panel that Cruise pointed out he and Hardwick have something in common, to Hardwick's genuine surprise. "It's rare, I'm at a loss for words," Hardwick said.

The panel began and Cruise turned to Hardwick to belt out, ""I wanna know what love is!"

As Hardwick tells it, 7,000 nerds in Hall H turned their heads to him waiting for his next move, which was to shout back, "I want you to show me!" for one of the most epic moments with a global star.

As seen in the video above, Ripa's team pulled a clip of Hardwick performing Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" in a Rock of Ages performance.
