Greg Nicotero Kicks Off The Walking Dead Season 7 Production

Production of The Walking Dead's seventh season has officially begun.

Series executive producer and VFX guru Greg Nicotero took to Instagram with a fun new image teasing the start of the cast and crew's seventh year together in Georgia. That said, one member of The Walking Dead family will be filming their last couple of days on set to start things off and conclude the Negan cliffhanger which capped season six.

Chances are, Nicotero is also directing the opening episode of the seventh season. He directed the first and last episodes of season six and the midseason premiere and Not Tomorrow Yet - one of the best episodes of the season which saw the group raiding a Saviors compound. The production team will likely let him keep the trend of directing episodes in which characters die alive and allow him to finish what he started with episode 6x16.

Michael Cudlitz also posted a new Instagram recently, though it may be an older shot from season six or prior, with the group being at Alexandria.

Cudlitz's recent tweet, though, seems to indicate a big day with The Walking Dead family back together.

The Walking Dead will return for its seventh season in October. Expect a new trailer to spawn out of San Diego Comic Con in July.
