Match.com Hosting Walking Dead Viewing Party To Connect Singles

Soon you will be able to watch devastating zombie slayings and meet other single people who share your interests at the same time! Time to get your own Richonne pairing going!

Thanks to an initiative by Match.com that seems like a clear-cut no brainer, fans of the Walking Dead will be able to participate in "viewing parties" on the site and meet other singles who enjoy the zombie-killing fare.

Beginning with the upcoming mid-season premiere, users of the dating website will be able to log on to the site for a group chat dedicated to the episode, while also being able to send private messages to other viewers.

"People didn't used to talk about series, but now we all sit down and blow through them pretty quickly, so we think about shows in terms of series, and no one talked like that five years ago," said Match.com CEO Mandy Ginsberg via Variety. "If we can have people connect over a series, that's something we're very excited about, I think it could change the game in terms of starting real conversations."

The new initiative is meant to reflect the change in modern dating and how new relationships are forged.

"We realized that with singles in America today, one of the things that they connect on the most is the shows they watch and they love, and we wanted to figure out how to replicate what's happening in the real world on the Match site and on the app," said Ginsberg.

The site's plans to host viewing parties for significant episodes of popular series following successful test runs with the Walking Dead and Scandal.

"We were a little nervous because we thought people might be inappropriate or say things that we'd have to monitor, but the fact of the matter is we didn't need to because people were so into the show and were so funny in talking about what could happen, what they liked, what they didn't like, it was so organic," said Ginsberg.



She compared the viewing parties to groups of friends talking about their favorite episodes after it aired.

So all of you single people out there looking for love, maybe look into these viewing parties. At the least you might gain a friend or two to watch some intense zombie slaying action and relieve some of that tension.

The Walking Dead returns for the rest of its seventh season on February 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC. Fear the Walking Dead's third season does not yet have a premiere date but with The Walking Dead finale set for April 2, expectations for Fear's return are set for April 9.
