Next Three Episodes Of The Walking Dead Get Extended Runtime

The Walking Dead's return for the back half of Season 7 will come with some extra minutes attached to each episode.

The midseason 7 premiere will run for 73 minutes, from 9:00 pm ET to 10:13 pm ET. Episode 7x10 will run for an extra six minutes on February 19, making it a 66 minute episodes from 9:00 pm ET to 10:06 pm ET. Episode 7x11 will run for an extra eight minutes, making it a 68 minute episode on February 26.

The episode titles for the extended episodes 7x10 and 7x11 have not yet been revealed but the midseason premiere, directed by executive proucer Greg Nicotero, is called "Rock in the Road." The official synopsis reads, "Rick is introduced to a new community." The common assumption regards Rick being introduced to King Ezekiel as seen in the previews for The Walking Dead's midseason 7 premiere but the possibility of bringing the new fan-dubbed "Garbage Pail Kids" into the mix before the 73 minutes have broadcasted also exists.

Episode 7x10 will be directed by Jeffrey F. January and episode 7x11 will be directed by Kari Skogland. Greg Nicotero will return for 6x12.

Extended episodes have been a common occurance throughout The Walking Dead's seventh season. In fact, more episodes have been extended than episodes which fit into the standard one hour time slot. However, most episodes only run a few minutes beyond 10:00 pm ET.

The official synopsis for the rest of The Walking Dead Season 7 reads...

Rick's group will find out yet again that the world isn't what they thought it was. It's much bigger than anything they've seen so far. While they have a singular purpose - to defeat Negan - it won't come easy. More importantly, victory will require more than Alexandria. They need the numbers of the Kingdom and the Hilltop, but, similar to how Rick felt, Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Gregory (Xander Berkeley) do not want bloodshed. To convince them otherwise will take more than speeches. The lengths Rick and the group will have to go to in order to find weapons, food and new fighters is nothing short of remarkable.

We'll meet new survivors in incredible places. We'll see Rick and the group tested in ways we've never seen before. We'll see treachery from people we trust. Rick is confident as he will see his group and many others band together with the common goal of taking down Negan. But no amount of planning will prepare the group for all-out war with Negan and his army.

The Walking Dead returns for the rest of its seventh season on February 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC. Fear the Walking Dead's third season does not yet have a premiere date but with The Walking Dead finale set for April 2, expectations for Fear's return are set for April 9.
