Side By Side Comparison Of Glenn's Death In The Walking Dead Comics

Full spoilers for The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere follow.

The Walking Dead not only stayed true to its word in delivering a brutal kill to start its seventh season but also stayed true to the comic books in Glenn's sendoff. The character - one of very few remaining from season one - took Negan's bat to the skull, mirroring his sendoff in The Walking Dead comics.

A new side by side comparsion shows just how closely The Walking Dead on AMC followed Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard's work on the pages.

Glenn's horrifying goodbye was almost a shot for shot replica of the black and white terrors originally crafted in issue #100 of the comics. The former pizza boy took a blow to the head so hard that his eye started to bulge from his skull. The villain mocked him as he tried to call out for his wife, though the "Taking it like a champ!" remark was delivered to the TV-added death of Abraham.

On television, Glenn delivered a few more heartbreaking words than the just the studder of "Maggie" as he did in the comics. In the most heartbreaking farewell, he called to his wife and promised, "Maggie, I'll find you."

The biggest differences were the colorful choice words Negan enjoys tossing around the comics which aren't allowed on television. AMC did manage did get away with all of the gory terror of Glenn losing his head, though. In fact, the episode was so violent that many fans and even the Parent's Television Council are sounding off to condemn it.
