Carl Rebuilds The Hilltop In New The Walking Dead Cover

The cover for issue #172 of Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead has officially been revealed and it looks like the characters might finally be seeing a brighter future.

In the wake of the Whisperer War, times have been tough for Rick Grimes and the people of the Alexandria Safe-Zone. It has been even harder for the neighboring Hilltop community. While Alexandria appeared to have fallen, the community rallied and defended their land. Hilltop, however, had completely burnt down.

On the new cover, released by artist Charlie Adlard, Carl Grimes has returned to the Hilltop with the rest of its residents and appears to be rebuilding the bigger, better community Maggie Rhee had promised.

Check it out in the tweet below, along with the first image of The Walking Dead Vol. 14's cover.

With the Hilltop being rebuilt, the sense of urgency to abandon what were once the strongholds and sanctuaries for the survivors seems to have died down. That said, a group of characters will be setting out on a journey to Ohio to meet Eugene's friend who had spoken to the Alexandria community over the radio. Whether or not this group proves to be friend, foe, or of any real value at all remains to be seen.

The world will continue to grow in The Walking Dead but it appears the already established communities will remain.
