The Walking Dead: Ann Mahoney Shares Olivia's After-Death Message To Rosita

Spoilers for The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 8 follow.

Just when fans of The Walking Dead thought that Fat Joey and Spencer were going to be enough deaths to carry us into 2017, Negan directed Arat to off one more Alexandrian. She prompted put a bullet in Olivia's face.

Really, it all comes down to Rosita's actions when we think about why Olivia died. Had Rosita chosen to play it cool and think long term rather than act with such haste, Negan would not have been enfuriated by her assassination attempt and ordered Arat to kill somebody. It's a similar situation to Negan killing Glenn because of Daryl's choice to rise up and punch him at a really bad time.

All things considered, Olivia is not holding a grudge according to the actress who plays her, Ann Mahoney. Speaking to ComicBook.com in an exclusive interview on After the Dead following the Midseason 7 finale, Mahoney shared Olivia's message to Rosita from the grave.

"Rosita! I think she's a bad-ass," Mahomey said. "She just gets tougher every episode. Her determination, her selflessness, her willingness to sacrifice herself for the greater good and the community, I think shows she is really growing as a person. I would say, 'You go girl, Rosita! Take him out! Pick up where I left off.'"

It seems like the people of Alexandria are very forgiving, even when their actions get other people killed. Nobody seems to be blaming Daryl for Glenn's death, though his punch certainly seemed to prompt the baseball bat to Glenn's skull. However, it's clearly water under the bridge, seeing as Daryl was happily waiting at the Hilltop with Maggie when Rick arrived to close out the latest episode.

"There's a part of me that worried that people would not care that I was gone so I'm really pleasantly surprised that everyone was so upset," Mahoney said. "It's sad, too, because I love [Olivia] and I've been working on this character for a long time and she's dear to me. Saying goodbye is hard."
