The Walking Dead: Danai Gurira Says Negan's Was The Wrong Group To Mess With

The survivors in Alexandria have had their backs against the wall before, but never like they do heading into The Walking Dead's seveneth season.

Rounding out The Walking Dead's sixth season, the confidence Rick Grimes was feeling climbed and climbed until it reached a screeching halt and dropped further than ever.

Of course, the group has found themselves with their backs against the wall before. The Governor cornered them at the prison with a tank and an army but Rick's group fought their way out. Capping the fifth season, the main players were trapped in a train car with no apparent way out but, still, clawed their way out of Terminus without any serious losses in their group.

This time is different.

"It is like what Rick said at the end of Season Five – you are messing with the wrong people," says Danai Gurira, whose Michonne character only recently opened up on personal levels. "Well, we just did that. We just messed with the wrong people."

"She is in a moment of utter powerlessness, which is beyond maddening for her. There is certainly rage and a desire for something to just give them a little bit of a way out of this, but there really doesn't seem to be one," Gurira says. "The only thing she has is her eyes."

"They have never seen this type of force in this world yet. The game has changed. We hope we can still play it."

The Walking Dead returns for its seventh season on October 23 at 9 PM ET on AMC. For complete coverage and insider info all season long, follow @BrandonDavisBD on Twitter.
