The Walking Dead: Dave Morrisey On Whether The Governor Could Take Negan

In the world of The Walking Dead, there are two major villains fans will be familiar with. Rick Grimes and his gang may be popular, but few characters can outdo the kind of charisma that Negan and The Governor bring to the AMC drama. While the latter baddie may be done from the series, Dave Morrisey is still fond of the terrifying role. And, now, the actor is making it known that The Governor could easily take down Negan and his Savior goons.

Speaking to CinemaBlend, Morrisey was asked if his murderous character could take down Lucille and her leather-clad owner. "I don't think there's a world where Negan and The Governor can exist together. I think they would have to take each other on, and you know, it's obvious that there would be one winner in that, and that would be The Governor," he said.

"I don't think there's any sane person that would argue against that," Morrisey continued. "The Governor is the ultimate villain in the show and there's been people that have come in and have sort of pretended to be like him, but no one's ever going to take that crown. And I think Negan certainly isn't going to take it. He's bad, but no one was like The Governor."

Morrisey event went on to compliment Jeffrey Dean Morgan for his work as Negan before shutting the villain down. "I love him, and I think he's a fantastic man and a great actor. I think he's killing it, and he did a great job. But as far as the story is concerned, there can only be one badass that can rule The Walking Dead," Morrisey stressed.

Of course, Morgan would care to argue against Morrisey on this debate. Last year, the actor told Entertainment Weekly that the competition between the two villains wasn't "even close" with Negan in favor.

"I mean, I love David Morrissey, but he wouldn't stand a chance. Wouldn't stand a chance. I'd put Negan up against anybody. He's super smart and there's no filter, no fear. The Governor was a little bit wack. Negan's got it together. It wouldn't even be close. And I'm sorry, 'cause I really love David. He's awesome. I worked with him for a year and there's just not a better guy. But Negan versus the Governor wouldn't be close."
