The Walking Dead: What Does PPP Stand For?

09/22/2017 11:45 am EDT

While the latest episode of The Walking Dead, 'Swear', didn't give fans a cliffhanger like the season six finale, it still left one character's fate a complete mystery. While Heath has never been a main character on the show, he has been vital to Alexandria, as well as Rick's strategies over the years.

At the end of this episode, many fans thought Heath was dead. Knowing Corey Hawkins is the star of another upcoming series, and seeing Tara escape from the bridge, it was almost a certainty that Heath wouldn't make it.

When Tara went back to find him, everyone learned that he had gotten off the bridge.

UPDATE 9/22/17: Heath Confirmed To Return On 'TWD'

Where did Heath go?

No one is sure about the character's whereabouts at this point. Heath either escaped on his own, or was taken by another group. Either way, Tara was given one clue about where Heath could have gone.

On the ground was a key-card, and the letters PPP were written on its side. So, what does PPP actually mean?

Throughout The Walking Dead series, there has been no reference to PPP. It wasn't a code between any characters, and Heath and Tara never used this alliteration when speaking with one another. It's quite the mystery at this point.

Nevertheless, there are two theories regarding this item.

First, it's that the Saviors took Heath. The key-card could have been used at one of the many compounds, and the use of one letter has been utlized by the Saviors before. Remember how they make their prisoners wear the sweaters with a single letter on the front? P could be the prison ID they give to Heath, and that could be the key into his room.

The other theory is that Heath is leading Tara to his whereabouts. When working with computers, PPP is another name for point-to-point protocol. This identifies the data link between two nodes, and could be used as a signifying term for Heath and Tara.

If Heath is leaving clues, PPP could be his mark. Just like Morgan is notching arrows into trees, Heath is using this computer marking to leave a trail of breadcrumbs. In other words, he's leading Tara to his location, point to point.
