The Walking Dead's Danai Gurira Teases 'Riveting' Season Ahead

01/26/2017 02:45 pm EST

There's only a couple more weeks until The Walking Dead returns, and fans of the show are starting to get fairly impatient.

After eight episodes of a broken Rick and a battered group, the survivors are finally starting to fight back. The first half of season seven ended with Rick, Daryl, Michonne, Maggie, and others reuniting at the Hilltop. Now that they're back together, they're planning to take the fight to Negan's doorstep.

As if people weren't excited enough about the new episodes, Walking Dead star Danai Gurira builds them up even more.

According to the actress, the next couple of months are going to be an awesome ride for fans. When speaking with EW about the second half of the season, Gurira was asked what everyone could expect from the new episodes.

"It's really, really riveting, and it goes through various rich chapters of being responsive to a very daunting force, that new force that is a part of our new normal. It's the idea of how they start choosing to respond to this threat that makes for some really fantastic drama. So I think there's just a really riveting second half to the season in terms of we're rising up, but what does that look like? And how the heck are we going to do that? It's great to be a team again, but we're dealing with the biggest threat we've ever dealt with, and so our tactics have to be different."

If you had any issues with the first half of season seven, throw your worries out of the window. Michonne is on a warpath, and the The Walking Dead is returning with full force.
