Watch The First Trailer For The Walking Dead

Everything starts somewhere, even the apocalypse. For The Walking Dead, that start came in Atlanta in 2010 with a very different Andrew Lincoln, production team, and overall show.

Taking a look at the very first full trailer for The Walking Dead, while it was still under the management of Frank Darabont, is a stark reminder of how far the show has come. The Walking Dead's characters have evolved, its settings have shifted, and its production team has grown.

Though they are not featured in the trailer, characters like Carol Peletier and Daryl Dixon are almost unrecognizable when you look at their roles in the debut season of the AMC series. Carol was a humbled housewife following orders given by her abusive husband Ed and Daryl was the disconnected and shunned little brother of Merle. The contrast next to who their characters have evolved into is almost unbelievable.

At the center of the trailer is Rick Grimes who delivers the line, "All I am anymore is a man who is looking for his wife and son." He has stayed pretty true to his promise in the line, though, claiming "anybody who gets in the way of that is gonna lose." That said, Rick is one of the few characters who has kept his core goals since the beginning.

The Walking Dead has been all but flipped upside down heading into its seventh season. The new trailer has revealed that the coming episodes are all about Negan. Not a single new shot of Rick Grimes was revealed as he and his fellow survivors are at the mercy of Negan's bat.

Similar to the early Rick Grimes, Morgan Jones has been consistent with his character's early days. He has always been conflicted, dealing with the loss of his wife early on and nowadays reconciling the loss of his son by treating all life as if it is precious.

Of course, a slew of characters from the first season are no longer with us. Ed, Shane, Sophia, Merle, and Morales have all exited the show but not before a couple of them became fan favorites.

All characters aside, the original trailer set a sarcastic tone for the series. The music nearly mocks the world created in the post-apocalyptic AMC series with "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" singing gleefully in the background. The show has since dropped such an approach to marketing and storytelling, going through a couple of showrunners each with different takes on how to portray the world.
