Here's When The Walking Dead Season 8 Trailer Will Be Released

04/10/2017 11:43 am EDT

The long off-season has begun. The Walking Dead fans have gone into hibernation following the Season 7 finale and will only awaken when they get their first looks at Season 8.

The Walking Dead Season 8 won't arrive on Sunday nights until mid to late October but a trailer for the new batch of episodes will arrive much earlier. The first trailer for The Walking Dead's next run will debut at San Diego Comic Con, where the AMC series has brought its first look for the past several years.

This year will be drastically different from the Season 7 trailer which dropped on July 29, 2016. On July 19, 2017, fans will actually be able to see their favorite characters as they go to war with Negan and the Saviors. Season 7's trailer was shrouded with mystery, only showing the characters who were eligible to be killed by Negan and Lucille in flashback form, electing to focus Maggie's Hilltop journey and Negan's Saviors.

The official schedule for 2017 San Diego Comic Con has not been finalized but The Walking Dead takes over the 6,000 seat Hall H on Friday.

To get a head start on what to expect from Season 8, fans can turn to Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead comics. Season 7 followed the comics more accurately than ever before meaning Season 8 will likely do the same. For newcomers to the books, issue #115 is a great starting point, as issue #116 is the first of the All Out War storyline. Be warned, reading the comics does mean potentially spoiling the events of the AMC series for yourself!
