The Walking Dead: Will The War Begin In The Season 7 Finale?

04/02/2017 03:31 pm EDT

Ever since Negan made his debut on The Walking Dead in the season six finale, fans have been wondering when the biggest story arc from the comic series would finally come to life. Many are starting to believe that tonight is the night that All Out War will occur on TV, and they're probably right.

If you've read The Walking Dead comics, then All Out War is an important phrase. It represents the 12 issue run of books in which Rick took the communities to battle against Negan and the Saviors.

It was a brutal affair, claiming the lives of a few big characters, but still managed to be one of the most intriguing and epic reads of the series.

Now that Rick is ready to fight, and Negan has come knocking, it looks like the war is about to begin.

When you watch the preview for the finale, it is made clear that a fight will erupt before the season ends. Not only is Rick seen aiming a gun through a smoky street, but there are a couple of big comic hurdles that the show has finally jumped through, leading to the onset of the war.

First of all, Ezekiel is seen marching to battle. Rick wouldn't fight without knowing that the Kingdom had his back, and the preview proved that is finally the case. Ezekiel, Morgan, Carol, and Shiva are all ready to become a part of the war.

Next, you have Dwight's reveal as a traitor. In the comics, this act was one of the final pieces in assuring Rick that they had the upper hand. With this secret in his pocket, Rick has plenty of confidence.

Finally, Negan has lead an army to Alexandria. In the comics, the war truly begins when Negan begins an attack on the town. This scene alone guarantees the war is finally here.

When tonight's episode ends, there will be a war on The Walking Dead. No cliffnahgers, no Terminus moments - this is it.

This is All Out War.
