After a prolonged hiatus and an eerily perfect trailer, the political drama House of Cards will soon be back on viewers' screens in a little over a month. And while only bits and pieces are known about the newest round of the critically-acclaimed series, Netflix has released a new batch of promotional images for the upcoming fifth season.

Fresh off of last season's surprising finale, it appears that Frank (Kevin Spacey) and Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) are still on a united front, greeting supporters and privately sharing a toast.

Elsewhere, tensions appear to be high in the world of House of Cards, with both the Underwoods' opponent Will Conway (Joel Kinnaman) and his wife Hannah (Dominique McElligott), as well as Underwood confidants Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) and Leann Harvey (Neve Campbell).

The new season promises to continue the highly-competitive election storyline from season four, while factoring in other elements as well. But if you're wondering just how much the new season will echo the current political climate, executive producer Melissa James Gibson reassured that any references are unintentional.

"Sure, the resonance sometimes feels eerie." James Gibson explained to Entertainment Weekly. "But Trump is an outsider who's trying to blow up the system, and Francis is the opposite."

Check out the gallery of images below, and get ready for the season five of House of Cards to premiere on May 30th.

House of Cards stars Kevin Spacey (American Beauty), Robin Wright (Wonder Woman), Michael Kelly (Changeling), Nathan Darrow (Gotham), and Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Luke Cage).
