New Twin Peaks Teaser Confirms Several Character Returns

Showtime has released the first look at numerous members of the Twin Peaks community in their upcoming revival of the acclaimed David Lynch drama.

There's hardly any new footage here; like all of the teasers the network has released so far, the closest thing we get to a look at the world of Twin Peaks is glimpses at older versions of the characters -- although one could argue that this is the first confirmation of numerous pieces of casting news.

Between context, wardrobe, and the YouTube caption (below), it seems that Everett McGill, Harry Dean Stanton, Grace Zabriskie, Harry Goaz, and Michael Horse are now officially returning in the roles they played 25 years ago. This is only really news because when the massive cast list was released, and ever since, Showtime and the producers have declined to comment on whether returning actors would be playing the same characters or new ones. If the characters have since been confirmed, we missed it.

The refusal to acknowledge what seemed obvious -- that most of the cast would return in the roles they played the last time the series was on TV -- came along with the decision on the part of Lynch and Showtime to release almost no information that would give audiences a sense for what they were in for when the show returns in just over two weeks.

Reunite with some familiar faces 25 years later including Big Ed Hurley (Everett McGill), Carl Rodd (Harry Dean Stanton), Sarah Palmer (Grace Zabriskie), Deputy Andy Brennan (Harry Goaz), Deputy Tommy "Hawk" Hill (Michael Horse), and FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan). Twin Peaks, the 18-hour limited event series will debut with a two-hour premiere on Sunday, May 21 at 9PM ET/PT.
