Adult Swim Teases Must-See Rick & Morty Live Event This Week

Rick and Morty fans are more than happy to have new season 3 episodes, but the creators have something even better planned for later this week.

Creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon have announced a special live stream for this Thursday, describing it as a "spontaneous evening of Rick and Morty". The live stream will take place at 9 pm EST (6PST) on AdultSwim.com, and fans will definitely want to check it out.

Speaking of season 3, Harmon recently discussed the prolonged development of season 3 on Twitter, after a fan asked if the show's popularity would drive the creators away from future seasons.

"The reason S3 took long is because it took long to write" said Harmon. "Because it was S3 of a show that we were scared to make worse than S2 or S1." "But don't worry about the content, because the reason overthought slows you down is you just do way more versions of stuff than needed. You usually end up back where you started. So as far as I can tell, although I'm too close to it, it's just another good season of RAM."

The drought is over for the time being, and with that now behind them, it will hopefully help the expediency of season 4. Harmon assured that they are sticking around for the long haul, joking that Rick and Morty would exist well into 2040. I might not be for that long, but fans definitely have much more animated quirkiness to look forward to regardless.

You can view the description for the show below.

Rick and Morty isAdult Swim's most scientifically accurate animated comedy. Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, it catalogues the bizarre misadventures of a bored scientific genius/drunkard and his socially awkward grandson, Morty. Their exploits tend to have unintended consequences for Morty's dysfunctional family, especially his unfailingly mediocre father, Jerry. Watch Rick and Morty battle everything from interdimensional customs agents to Cronenberg monsters.

The cast features Justin Roiland as both Rick Sanchez and his grandson, Morty; Sarah Chalke as Rick's daughter, Beth; Chris Parnell as Rick's son-in-law and Beth's husband, Jerry; and Spencer Grammer as Rick's granddaughter and Beth and Jerry's daughter, Summer.
