Warning! Spoilers for Supernatural season 13 lie below!

Supernatural is known for killing off its main characters, but that doesn't make their deaths any easier. Fans experienced such loss recently when The CW drama wrapped its twelfth season with the death of Castiel. However, Misha Collins' character won't be gone for too long; The angel will be back in action in time to try out some Scooby Snacks.

If you are wondering when Collins will return as Castiel, then you can rest assured it will happen by next season's sixteenth episode. The stars of Supernatural did a press roundtable at San Diego Comic Con (via CinemaBlend), and it was there Jensen Ackles revealed Castiel will be back in time for the show's much-anticipated Scooby Doo special.

"It'll be very Scooby-Doo-esque. Just a little slightly darker version of Scooby-Doo, but I will say that when we went in and did the recording, it was Jared [Padalecki], myself, and Misha," Ackles said, dropping Collins by name.

"We recorded, we put cameras and there were GoPros all over. All of that will be on special features, but we were like vibrating we were so excited about it. We were so thrilled, and the whole process of doing the dialogue, we were having a scene. It's ridiculously funny."

In the past, the Supernatural crew confirmed the Scooby Doo special is slated to be its next season's sixteenth episode. If Castiel is back in time for the animated outing, then the Winchester boys will hopefully bring their friend back to life around the season's start.

There is always a chance that the Castiel featured in Supernatural next season isn't the one fans know and love. The angel has died plenty of times on Supernatural (Who hasn't?), so Collins may be brought back a bit different this time around. His death at the hands of Lucifer's blade looked pretty final, so Collins could come back as a different character who's assumed the body of Castiel. It has happened before - and knowing Supernatural - it might easily happen again.

Supernatural returns for its 13th season on Thursday, October 12, in a new time (8/7c) on The CW. You can read up on Rotten Tomatoes synopsis for Season 12 below:

"Season 12 of this fantasy drama picks up right where it left off, with Sam (Jared Padalecki) kidnapped by British Men of Letters member Toni Bevell (Elizabeth Blackmore); and Dean (Jensen Ackles) in shock at the sight of his mother, Mary (Samantha Smith), who's been long dead. Castiel (Misha Collins) is forced to partner up with Crowley (Mark Sheppard) to search for the vessel-jumping Lucifer, most notably played by guest star Rick Springfield. As Lucifer begins to possess more powerful and influential people to get what he wants, the hunters are forced to face the death of one of their own. While trying to stop Lucifer, the Winchester brothers are wrongly accused and arrested for his crime - leading Mary and Castiel to turn to an unlikely source to find them. Other notable guest stars include Rick Worthy and Alicia Witt."
