Former Champion Likely To Miss Wrestlemania With Injury

02/23/2017 03:36 pm EST

On this week's SmackDown Live Alexa Bliss defeated Becky Lynch for the SmackDown Women's Championship after Naomi was forced to surrender the title earlier in the show due to a knee injury she suffered while winning the championship at Elimination Chamber.

The initial timeframe for Naomi's return looked like two weeks, but after that time she was still not cleared to return. Even during Tuesday night's show it appeared as if there was some hope Naomi could make it back in time for Wrestlemania 33.

Now, all reports are that it looks like Naomi could miss up to two months, which would unfortunately keep her from trying to regain Smackdown's top prize in her hometown of Orlando at Wrestlemania.

Naomi has worked for eight long years to get to the top of the WWE mountain and like she said herself on Tuesday, it hurts to see her have to step down.

We wish Naomi a speedy recovery and hope that she is able to pick right up where she left off in the hunt for the Women's Championship.
