Kevin Owens Becomes WWE Universal Champion On Raw
08/29/2016 11:22 pm EDT
Kevin Owens has been crowned WWE Universal Champion with help of his former NXT mentor, Triple H.
After Big Cass was the first to be eliminated from the fatal four way match, it seemed that Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Kevin Owens were so evenly matched that no man could put down the others. Finishing move after finishing move, all three men kept fighting on.
Then, Triple H, who the WWE Universe hasn't seen in months, showed up and gave a Pedigree to Roman Reigns, helping Seth Rollins get the pinfall on his former Shield partner. Since the match was no disqualification, that assistance was perfectly legal.
Then, there was the real swerve.
Triple H then turned on his former protoge and gave a Pedigree to Seth Rollins, allowing Kevin Owens to get the pinfall becoming the new WWE Universal Champion. Triple H was Owens' mentor in NXT so the allegiance isn't completely out of nowhere. What's interesting to note is that this could set up Rollins as a face, giving Raw it's huge good guy role that is so desperately needed to fill.
Now with Owens as champion (which we called earlier tonight), Seth becomes the hound looking to reclaim what he feels is his, adding so much to this feud. This is the main event that Raw deserves.
