WWE: John Cena Backtracks On Comments About The Rock

The most contentious aspect of the WrestleMania feud between The Rock and John Cena was the "part-timer" allegation that Cena constantly the Rock's way. Ironically in recent months the Cena train has left the station for longer periods of time due to external commitments, and it didn't take long for the WWE community to point that out.

Cena addressed his previous comments on Dwayne The Rock Johnson, who has since gone on to become the highest paid actor in Hollywood. JBL broached the subject on the most recent episode of Talking Smack, where Cena made his long-awaited return (via CageSideSeats).

"I consider what I said back then the stupidest stuff ever. I was looking at it through very blinded eyes and I really wanted The Rock to come back to the WWE and I figured that hitting him where it hurts would get him back to the WWE. And it worked. But I've apologized to him in person, I'm on the web for the world to see - I was wrong, he was right. He's now the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, he has transcended this business and I think anything, any time a Superstar can give what he's given to the WWE, and then transcend the WWE, that's good for all of us."

His plan did work mind you, and the two superstars entered into a two-year long feud that resulted in two back to back WrestleMania matches. The Rock has returned several more times since then, but not for prolonged runs. Cena's schedule will most likely look a bit more like Chris Jericho's after Wrestlemania, returning for significant spurts and then taking time off for other opportunities, like his recent hosting appearance on SNL.
