Archie Announces Four One-Shots For March, Including Sabrina the Teenage Witch

The truth behind those four mysterious March comics from Archie Comics has been revealed.

The publisher announced today that they will launch a quartet of one-shot comics in March, expanding their New Riverdale line to include one-shots for Sabrina the Teenage Witch and The Archies while releasing a new Little Archie one-shot for all ages and a new, werewolf-themed comic called Jughead: The Hunger to bolster their Archie Horror line.

...So we were right when we predicted three out of the four one-shot comics: Jughead: The Hunger is the outlier, but we guessed from the teaser art what The Archies, Little Archie, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch would be.

Entertainment Weekly broke the news this morning, and here's how they describe the one-shots, which will come out throughout March and not all in the same day like DC's just-announced Hanna-Barbera crossover annuals:

"Jughead: The Hunger (written by Frank Tieri and illustrated by Michael Walsh) will be a bit of a horror tale explaining the dark secret behind the insatiable hunger of Archie's best friend. The Archies is focused on Archie's pursuit of musical stardom, and how that affects his friends. Little Archies (written and illustrated by Art Baltazar) follows a light-hearted adventure of small, cartoony versions of the Riverdale crew. Sabrina the Teenage Witch (written by Katie Cook and Franco, with art by Andy Price) will follow the protagonist's first day of school, after years of tutoring from her magical aunts."

While Art Baltazar and Franco are known for their all-ages versions of various properties from the Teen Titans to Hellboy, this isn't the first time Little Archie has been a title from Archie Comics: a Little Archie comic book, which featured toddler versions of popular Archie characters, was published from 1956 until 1983.

"If these books resonate, fans might just see them greenlit as regular series," said Archie CEO Jon Goldwater as part of the statement he made to the magazine.
