Archie/Betty/Veronica Love Triangle Teased In New Riverdale Promo

The CW has released a new "Welcome to Riverdale" promo for their Archie Comics-based television series, and it features new footage that teases the classic love triangle between Archie (K.J. Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart), and Veronica (Camila Mendes).

Archie and Betty's bedroom windows are perfectly aligned, so when the famous redhead puts on his shirt in the promo, his blonde-haired neighbor — clad only in her bra — and her gay friend Kevin Keller (Casey Cott) gawk at his muscular physique. We then see Betty and Archie sitting together at Pop Tate's Chocklit Shoppe, and as she tells him, "I've been thinking about us," he is distracted by the sight of Veronica. Betty is noticeably bothered by the way Archie looks at Veronica and nervously laughs in her presence.

The live-action series offers a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale's wholesome facade. The show will focus on the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper, and rich socialite Veronica Lodge, and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic books—including Archie's rival, Reggie Mantle, and his slacker best friend, Jughead Jones.

Riverdale stars KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Luke Perry as Fred Andrews, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Ross Butler as Reggie Mantle, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, Mädchen Amick as Alice Cooper, and Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Supergirl, Glee) writes and executive produces, along with exec producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater. Lee Toland Krieger directs.
