Blade Runner Sequel Hires Roger Deakins
05/21/2015 01:28 pm EDT
Acclaimed cinematographer Roger Deakins has been tapped to shoot the Blade Runner sequel.
Known for his work on Skyfall, No Country For Old Men, and The Shawshank Redemption, Deakins will help bring director Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi sequel to life. The Bladerunner follow-up will be duo's third collaboration, following 2013's Prisoners and the upcoming Sicario.
Deakins and Villeneuve are expected to begin filming the still-untitled Blade Runner sequel this summer, working off a screenplay by Michael Green and Hampton Fancher (who co-wrote the original Blade Runner). With Harrison Ford back in the role as Rick Deckard, The Blade Runner sequel will take place several decades after the events of the original film. Ryan Gosling is rumored to join Ford as a co-star, but his involvement is still unconfirmed.
