In this age of remakes and reboots, your favorite franchise has a 50/50 chance of being remade in some form or another and a less than 25% chance of actually being good.

Dreamworks Animation and Netflix bucked the trend of sullying your nostalgic memories and managed to deliver a fantastic interpretation of a classic series with their Voltron: Legendary Defender animated series. The show was extremely well received, and at their panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, a second season was officially announced.

Executive Producer Joaquim Dos Santos, Co-Executive Producer Lauren Montgomery, and Writer Tim Hedrick did the announcement honors and said the second season will be hitting Netflix later his year. Actor Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), who voices Keith, the pilot of the red lion, also made an appearance at the panel, as the crew delivered some behind the scenes discussion about the first season, as well as a sneak peek at the upcoming second season.

While you wait for Voltron: Legendary Defender to come back for another round, you can enjoy the season 1 soundtrack, which will be available soon. You can view some photos of the Voltron panel in the gallery.

In addition to Steven Yeun (Keith), Voltron Legendary Defender also stars Kimberly Brooks (Princess Allura), Rhys Darby (Coran), Josh Keaton (Shiro), Tyler Labine (Hunk), Jeremy Shada (Lance), Bex Taylor-Klaus (Pidge).
