Despite the Assassin's Creed video game series taking a bit of a sabbatical, the franchise continues to expand its foothold in other ways.

The popular series will make its theatrical debut later this year; it also expanded its reach to 1860's New York City in recently released Assassin's Creed Last Descendants novel -- which came from Scholastic on August 30.

Fans of the franchise will get a small glimpse of Last Descendants thanks to a new spinoff series from Titan Comics called Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants - Locus #1.

ComicBook.com readers can get an exclusive preview of the first issue of Assassin's Creed: Last Descendants - Locus in the gallery, and the full issue will hit comic stores and digital on September 21st.

The novel focuses on new protagonists, both in ancient times and in the present, Locus will actually bring back fan favorites Evie Frye and Henry Green of Assassin's Creed Syndicate fame. It will also, once again, spotlight the Assassin and Templar conflict taking place on the streets of Victorian-era London.

Frye and Green will work with New Yorker Tommy Greyling on his quest for answers.

No mention as to what he's looking for just yet, but it could be related to the Trident of Eden, which will figure prominently into the Last Descendants novel.

Locus is being written by Ian Edginton (Dead Space: Liberation, Hinterkind Vol. 1: The Waking World) with art from Caspar Wijngaard (Limbo) and will launch with 6 Variant covers from Verity Glass, Caspar Wijngaard, Valeria, and Ian Culbard, alongside a Scholastic Variant and a blank sketch cover.
