Final Fantasy VI Opera Scene Gets A Moving Music Video Tribute

Nobuo Uematsu is one of the most recognizable names in video games music, largely thanks to his work on Square Enix's Final Fantasy series of Japanese RPGs. Uematsu's music helped create one the series' most memorable moments, the opera scene in Final Fantasy VI, where Celes impersonates the great opera singer Maria in order to attract the attention of Maria's paramour, Setzer.

Video Games Live composer Jillian Aversa has enlisted the aid of cellist Tina Guo to create a music video tribute to that memorable scene. The arrangement was originally created by Aversa and her husband, Andrew Aversa (a.k.a. Zircon) for Overclocked Remix's Balance & Ruin tribute album, but was expanded for performance in Video Games Live.

Check out the music video for "Aria di Mezzo Carattere" below:

The song is included on the recently released Video Games Live Level 4. Aversa also recently paid tribute to the music of The Legend of Zelda with a similarly impressive music video of "Zelda's Lullaby" and the Skyward Sword theme.
