Grant Gustin Wants Kevin Smith To Direct Multiple Episodes Of The Flash In Season 3
03/18/2016 01:01 pm EDT
After filmmaker Kevin Smith shared a behind-the-scenes photo with The Flash star Grant Gustin yesterday on Twitter, each gushed about the experience of working together, with Gustin saying that he wanted Smith back -- more than once -- next season.
The Flash was recently renewed for a third season, while Arrow, iZombie, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and the whole of The CW's primetime lineup was also picked up for next year. It's the first time 100% of a broadcast networks lineup has been renewed in recent memory.
Smith, for his part, is a huge and vocal fan of the series. Besides writing a number of comics, and a draft for the never-made Superman Lives, Smith's superhero experience has been mostly as a fan -- but when the opportunity came around to direct an episode of The Flash, the Clerks and Tusk filmmaker jumped at the chance.
"It's been such a pleasure," Gustin commented on the tweet. "We need to lock you into multiple episodes for season 3!"
The episode, which has a title that's as-yet redacted, is the 21st of Season Two, coming just two episodes before the finale. He's shared a number of photos from the set, including pictures of himself with his frequent collaborator Jason Mewes and with Zoom, the Season Two big bad on The Flash.
The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
