Kingsman 2 Release Date Is Getting Pushed Up

Most comic book movies revolve around high-flying super heroes, but Matthew Vaughn used his latest film to break that mold. Kingsman: The Secret Service was a fun-loving spy thriller that audiences instantly loved, and it was no surprise when Fox gave the go-ahead for a sequel.

The movie was initially slated to hit theaters this June, but the project was pushed back to October. There were a number of reasons for this, but the main one being the pending release of Alien: Covenant. The studio wanted the Alien film to be the focus of that time period.

After being given an October 6 release date, the movie is undergoing yet another change. Kingsman: The Golden Circle is now hitting theaters one week earlier, on September 29.

Sure, it's only a week, but this is going to be a huge help for the Kingsman sequel. That September 29 date doesn't occupy any big films, but October 6 does.

Had Kingsman stayed on the later date, it would have gone head-to-head with Blade Runner 2049. Let's be honest, no one wants to take on Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling in the box office.

Now, Kingsman will enjoy an opening weekend on its own, with no real competition for seven days.

This could also help out Matthew Vaughn. If the director is truly considering helming the Man Of Steel sequel, he's going to need all the time he can get.
