Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Is Absorbing Man Joining The Secret Warriors?

As the Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. midseason premiere draws closer, we've learned a few things about what to expect from the episode, titled "Bouncing Back." We know that it will finally begin fulfilling the Season 3 promise of seeing the Secret Warriors assembled, including Slingshot. We also know that the villain Absorbing Man will be making his returning. Perhaps these things go hand in hand.

The Secret Warriors of the comics included a member named Jerry Sledge, codename Stonewall. Stonewall possesses super strength, enhanced durability, and the ability to replicate the properties of any substance he touches, a power he gained by coming into contact with his father, Carl "Crusher" Creel, a.k.a. the Absorbing Man.

It is possible that Absorbing Man is only appearing in the Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. midseason premiere to introduce us to Jerry, who will then join Daisy's fledgling team. However, while Absorbing Man and Slingshot have both been revealed, we still haven't heard any kind of casting news for Stonewall.

This bring up the possibility that Absorbing Man himself will take Stonewall's place on the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the team. The last time we saw Creel, he was used as peace offering by Director Coulson and handed over to the custody of Brigadier General Glenn Talbot. In an effort to narratively streamline the recruitment of the Secret Warriors, perhaps Daisy will ask for Creel's return and grant him a chance at redemption by offer him a spot on her team.

In "Bouncing Back," in the aftermath of his trip to Maveth, Coulson is more determined than ever to get to Gideon Malick and put an end to Hydra once and for all. Daisy and the team encounter more Inhumans who have powers like they've never seen before, but will they be friends or enemies of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.returns to ABC on March 8.
