Pokemon GO Exposes Cheating Boyfriend

Niantic's Pokemon GO has been attributed to many things since its release last week, and now you can add cheating significant other-tracker to that list.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the game is its location-based gameplay, populating the world around with Pokemon to catch, gyms to train at, and Pokestops to grab items for your army of Pokemon. Being GPS driven however does mean that it contains a history of where you've been, and that is what ultimately proved to be Evan Scribner's downfall.

Scribner told the New York Post that his girlfriend broke up with him after discovering his recent whereabouts, courtesy of his Pokemon history. Each Pokemon not only displays the creature's stats but also where you found them. It turns out he caught a few of them near his ex-girlfriend's house in Bushwick.

"She saw that I had caught a Pokémon while at my ex's house," Scribner said. When she confronted him about it, he didn't seem to come up with a satisfactory answer, causing her to leave that night.

"She found out last night at my house and hasn't contacted me since then," Scribner said.

There's, unfortunately, no real away around that either, as the location is critical to the game's mechanics. If you are trying to keep your whereabouts on the down low, maybe save the Pokemon hunting for a later time. Just a thought.
