Pokemon Go Releases New Update, Servers Promptly Crash Again

There are only three constants in life: death, taxes, and Pokemon Go server crashes. Players of the popular "augmented reality" mobile app are reporting widespread outages presumably caused by the game's servers crashing...again.

At this time, it's unclear whether the crash was caused by high traffic volume, another hacker attack, or some other unknown issue.

It was only a few hours ago that Pokemon Go released a new update, labeled V 1.0.3 on the Apple App Store. Fans were hoping that the next Pokemon Go update would fix some of the game's major bugs, such as the broken tracking system, but the update log stated the new update contained only "minor text fixes".

The latest server crash doesn't bode well for Niantic's short term plans, which includes releasing Pokemon Go in Japan as early as tomorrow. Niantic also has a major presentation at San Diego's Comic-Con International tomorrow, the company's first major appearance since the game was released a little over two weeks ago.

Despite the almost daily server crashes, Pokemon Go continues to be a pop culture phenomenon. The most download app in history, Pokemon Go has allegedly generated $35 million in revenue since its release and doubled Nintendo's stock price.
