Pokemon GO Will Soon Have More Daily Users Than Twitter on Android

Just how big is Pokemon GO? The popular mobile app will soon have more Android users than Twitter. According to SimilarWeb, a website that estimates website traffic and app user metrics, approximately 3% of Android users play Pokemon GO on a daily basis, a meteoric rise since the game's release last Wednesday. Meanwhile, approximately 3.5% of Android owners use Twitter on a daily basis. Based on SimilarWeb's metrics, Pokemon GO could surpass Android sometime as early as this week.

Pokemon GO is already surpassing other popular Android apps. Approximately 5.8% of Android users installed the game on their phones, which is over twice as many phones than the popular dating app Tinder. Players are on the game for an average of 43 minutes and 23 seconds, more than Instagram, Whatsapp, Snapchat and Facebook Messenger.

The craziest part about these metrics is that Pokemon GO hasn't even had a worldwide release yet. Niantic Labs, the developer of Pokemon GO, pushed back a worldwide release until it could fix server issues caused by the game's overwhelming traffic. Of course, the geographic limits didn't stop many players from downloading a copy early, as nearly 4 million people visited the website APKMirror last Wednesday to use a work around to get the game before Pokemon GO was officially released in the United States.
