Star Wars Rebels Season 2 Finale Clip Features The Force Awakens Link

The season 2 finale of Star Wars Rebels looks like it will be one for the books, with the return of Darth Maul, a Darth Vader vs. Ahsoka showdown, and an ominous title of "Twilight of the Apprentice." Well, on top of all that, they'll be exploring a Sith Temple on Malachor in the episode, as we see a little bit of in the clip above.

We saw back in the season 2 mid-season trailer that Ezra would be holding a crosshilt-three-bladed lightsaber, similar to the one Kylo Ren wields in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Now we see that it merely flickers off fairly shortly after he ignites it - and it's noted that it must be hundreds of years old.

Check out the clip above, which also shows how Ezra gets separated from Kanan and Ahsoka, and gives us an intriguing question about the very nature of the planet Malachor.

Star Wars Rebels season 2 finale airs as a special one-hour presentation Wednesday at 9pm on Disney XD.
