Superman Will Play Big Role On Supergirl, But You Won't See Him

Superman has apparently gained a new superpower on the upcoming Supergirl television series: Invisibility.
That's because Big Blue, who is Kara Zor-El's cousin on the show, will not appear on-screen at any time during CBS' Supergirl. But, as Variety reports from this week's Television Critics Association Press Tour, Superman will cast a large presence throughout the series. So, while Superman will "exist" in Supergirl, he'll never outright appear.
This supports what executive producer Ali Adler told reporters last month, when she said Superman's role on Supergirl would be like the President of the United States' on HBO's Veep—the cast will always feel his presence, even if they never come face-to-face with him.
So, it looks like our only on-screen Superman fix will have to come from Henry Cavill in DC's Cinematic Universe.
Supergirl premieres October 26 at 8:30 p.m. on CBS.
