Chandler Riggs Says Its Difficult Working With Babies On The Walking Dead

The classic show business mantra of 'never work with animals or kids' appears to be true for one of the most popular shows currently on TV.

Chandler Riggs, has spent much of his adolescence playing Carl Grimes on The Walking Dead. And with Carl having a young half-sibling, Judith, since the show's third season, Riggs has regularly worked alongside Judith's set of young actresses.

But according to Riggs' recent Reddit AMA, their scenes together prove to be very eventful to film.

"Oh my lord those babies. They are so difficult. It's a set of twins, and we've had about 7 or 8 different pairs. But oh man, they are so tough to work with."

If you're wondering what exactly that means, Riggs clarified what the young actresses (currently Chloe and Sophia Garcia-Frizzi) often do on set. "They constantly grab at the boom mic, interrupt our lines, and jump out of our arms screaming 'MOMMY' and run out of the room to go find their mom. I'm always thankful when I don't have scenes with them."

Riggs did reveal which season's set of twins - the show cycles through several each season - was the best to work with. "Season five babies were the easiest, but only because I spent so much time with them and basically forced them to like me."

Riggs later edited his post to clarify that the babies "can be fun and very cute, but most of the time they're hard to work with."

While Judith did not appear in last week's midseason premiere, she has been a plot point throughout season seven. In 'Service', Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) broke down to Michonne (Danai Gurira), revealing that he believes Shane Walsh (Jon Bernthal) was the real father of Judith.

And in a particularly tense scene of 'Sing Me a Song', Judith was momentarily put in the hands of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) while he contemplated killing the rest of the Grimes family.

It's unclear when we will see Judith next in The Walking Dead's current season, but fans will get the added bonus of knowing her TV half-brother's amusing thoughts about their scenes together.

The Walking Dead returns for the rest of its seventh season on February 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
