When it comes to anime adaptations, there are some creators who take a backseat and simply watch studios bring their manga or novels to light. Clearly, Hajime Isayama is not one of those people. The acclaimed mangaka is the man behind one of the medium's most popular stories, Attack on Titan, and the beloved anime is making its big comeback in April.

Naturally, fans have been wondering just how involved Isayama is with the project given his involvement with season one. Now, those curious fans have dug up an interview the creator did last winter where he clarifies his work on the show.

Speaking to Bessatsu Shonen Magazine back in August 2016, Isayama and director Tetsuro Araki spoke about the work being done on season two. It was there that Isayama said he was involved with the show's screenwriting.

Translated by Suniuz, Isayama told the magazine, "It took us some time [to get the season prepared]. However, the time we have spent builds up to a much better planning and higher quality of the anime. I truly feel this way because I am involved in the screenwriting work. We will keep you waiting for a little bit of time, but please look forward to the anime!"

The director also chimed in, saying, "To me, Shingeki no Kyojin resembles a master whom I respect. Whenever I get close to him, I can feel his noble mind and his magnificent look. If his voice can be amplified and spread into this world, I'd rather make myself an insignificant existence but support him with my best efforts and all the skills I accumulated so far."

Not long ago, Isayama was able to show-off the fruits of his labor over on Instagram. The office Attack on Titan profile shared a photo of the creator holding up the premiere script of season two.

If you are not familiar with Attack on Titan, then you should know the popular anime is renowned for its intense action and gritty storylines. The anime follows a boy named Eren Yeager in an alternate world overrun by massive creatures known as Titans. These mindless beasts have all but wiped out humanity, and mankind is left to cower in fear behind massive walls. When their sanctum is infiltrated by a slew of Titans, Eren and his friends Armin and Mikasa join the military to help eradicate the blood-thirty monsters. But, as they grow older, they learn that the beasts are not what they appear as long-held government conspiracies make themselves known.
